Barton Boat Club

PO Box 2089
Ann Arbor, MI 48106

The Barton Boat Club is located on Barton Pond in the Village of Barton adjacent to Ann Arbor. The club facilities are on a beautiful setting on the north side of Barton Pond. It is a sailing club which currently has fleets of Snipes and Lasers. There is also an Optimist fleet for junior sailors. There are club races scheduled every Sunday from mid May to mid October and on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. In addition, there are invitational Regattas for Snipes and Lasers. Throughout the year, the club facilities are used for picnics, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and ice boating.

Barton Pond is an impoundment of the Huron River created by the Detroit Edison dam installed in 1920.  Detroit Edison sold the dam and pond properties to the City of Ann Arbor. The City now uses the dam to generate electricity and it draws drinking water from an intake in the pond. The Barton Boat Club began sailing on the pond in 1937. It leases its facilities from the Barton Maintenance Corporation.

Club members are required to participate in pre and post racing season work days (Put-in Day in the spring and Haul-out in the fall) and to serve as race committee on at least one Sunday or regatta date.

Membership dues are $285 plus a $100 initiation fee for new members. Winter storage is available in the boathouse for a nominal fee.
