1. Adjustable Acceleration Settings

Turbo Connect accelerates your web browsing by compressing pictures and text between your computer and Provide.Net. You can adjust the compression level that Turbo Connect uses by doing the following:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Settings to bring up the Settings window.

  5. In Settings, ensure you are on the Image Quality tab. If you would like to increase Acceleration, drag the sliding bar towards the right side. If you would like to decrease Acceleration and increase the image quality of pictures, drag the sliding bar towards the left.

2. Acceleration for Email, Macromedia Flash and FTP

Turbo Connect by default accelerates web browsing, email, and Macromedia Flash. FTP acceleration however, is not turned on by default. To enable or disable these options, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Settings to bring up the Settings window.

  5. In the settings window, select the Features tab at the top. Here you will be able select what acceleration options you want to enable/disable by checking or un-checking the appropriate boxes.

3. Pop-Up Blocker

Turbo Connect has the ability to help block most pop-up advertisements. By default, this option is enabled. You also have the option to block floating Flash advertisements, add sites to a "white list" which bypasses the Turbo Connect pop-up blocker, and check to see how many pop up advertisements Turbo Connect has blocked. To enable or disable these options, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Pop-Up Blocker to bring up the configuration menu.

  5. In the Pop-Up Blocker Options window, you can choose to enable/disable the Pop-Up Blocker, the Floating Flash-Ad blocker, and you can choose to have your computer beep to notify you a pop-up advertisement has been blocked successfully.

  7. To manually add a website URL to bypass the Turbo Connect Pop-Up Blocker, click on the White List tab at the top of the Pop-Up Blocker options window. Click on the Add button, type the name of the website you wish to bypass the Pop-Up Blocker, and then click OK.

  9. To view all of the pop-up windows Turbo Connect has successfully blocked, you can do so by clicking on the Logging tab at the top of the Pop-Up Blocker configuration window. You may choose to clear the log file by clicking the Clear Log button.

4. Banner Advertisement Blocking

Turbo Connect has the ability to block banner advertisements on websites. This also allows for a faster browsing experience since less data is transferred. By default, this feature is disabled. To enable Banner Advertisement Blocking, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Settings to bring up the Settings menu.

  5. In the Settings window, click on the Features tab. Place a check into the checkbox that's labeled Ad-Blocking under Other Acceleration to enable this feature. Uncheck the box to disable this feature.

5. Acceleration Statistics

Turbo Connect offers two different ways that allows one to see how much speed they are gaining by using Turbo Connect to browse the web versus without Turbo Connect. To check basic statistics, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Performance to bring up the Performance menu.

  5. The Performance menu is a way to check the performance of Turbo Connect for the current connection you have established. This will show you the connection speed, how much estimated time saved by using Turbo Connect versus without Turbo Connect.

The second, more detailed way Turbo Connect can display your Performance statistics is in the Statistics Control Panel. To access the Statistics Control Panel, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Statistics to bring up the Statistics Control Panel.

  5. Click on the Details button to display a detailed look at specifically where Turbo Connect is accelerating your browser connection.

  7. As you can see below, the Statistics Control Panel will compare how much actual data has been transferred versus how much original data was compressed by Turbo Connect. Click OK when done

6. Privacy Manager

Turbo Connect has a feature that allows you to delete temporary files accumulated during normal web browsing that may contain personal data with just one click. This includes the deletion of cached files, cookies and history entries. To enable or disable these options, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear as a red T, shown below:

  3. Left click on Privacy Manager to bring up the Privacy Manager menu.

  5. In the Privacy Manager menu, you can choose which files will be deleted when the Privacy Manger runs. Uncheck any you do not wish to delete. Click the Run button to delete these files. Click Close when the operation is completed.

7. Internet Explorer Integration

If you use Internet Explorer as your primary web browser, you can access all of the above options from an Internet Explorer Toolbar menu. To access the Turbo Connect Toolbar, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer

  2. Locate the Turbo Connect Toolbar. Below is a sample image which has the toolbar in the upper left corner:

  4. From this menu, you will be able to select all of the options for Turbo Connect just as you would by right clicking on the red T in the lower right portion of your desktop near the clock.

8. Integrated Update Feature

Turbo Connect has a feature that will automatically check for a more up-to-date version of the software. To run this option, follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the Turbo Connect icon in the lower right portion of your screen near the clock. It will appear to be a red T, shown below:

  2. Refresh (Ctrl+R)
  3. Left click on Settings to bring up the Settings window.

  5. In the Settings window, click on the Update tab at the top. Click on Update Now to check for a newer version of Turbo Connect. Click OK if you have the latest version of Turbo Connect or follow the on-screen prompts to download the updated version.
