Provide.Net Turbo Connect accelerates certain text and graphics on web pages. With Provide.Net Turbo Connect you will notice a significantly faster experience when you visit web sites, send and receive your e-mail, and perform many other Web-based activities. Provide.Net Turbo Connect will not currently accelerate file downloads such as music files, or streaming video or audio media.

If you have a slow Internet connection (such as a dial-up or wireless connection) with bandwidth of less than 300Kbps, you will experience a significant degree of acceleration using Turbo Connect.

What types of content does Provide.Net Turbo Connect speed up?

Provide.Net Turbo Connect significantly speeds up web page access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content. Turbo Connect also accelerates email traffic (POP3 and SMTP) using lossless compression. Turbo Connect does NOT speed up file downloads (over FTP or file sharing programs), streaming audio/video or HTTPS (secure web sites).

Can I use Provide.Net Turbo Connect with Netscape Navigator?

Start Netscape Navigator and browse as you normally would. Provide.Net Turbo Connect is launched automatically every time Windows starts. It operates in the background to accelerate your web connection. No intervention is required.

Can I use Provide.Net Turbo Connect with other browsers such as Opera or Mozilla?

Yes. Provide.Net Turbo Connect works with any web browser that allows you to specify an HTTP proxy. You must set the HTTP proxy host to be "localhost" and the port number to be "5400" (without quotes). Consult your browser's documentation for additional information.

Does Provide.Net Turbo Connect speed up email?

Yes. Provide.Net Turbo Connect can reduce the amount of time it takes to send and receive email. Provide.Net Turbo Connect accelerates email transparently without any user intervention, so you can use your mail program exactly as you normally would. It is compatible with any POP3/SMTP client, including Outlook Express, Eudora and Netscape Mail. Note: email acceleration is disabled by default.

Does Provide.Net Turbo Connect speedup my secure (HTTPS) transactions such as my web-banking?

Provide.Net Turbo Connect does not accelerate secure transactions. Secure web sites will continue to work by bypassing the acceleration component.

Download off the Provide.Net web site

  1. Open a web browser window
  2. Go to www.provide.net
  3. Click on the red "Turbo Connect" link at the right side of the screen
  4. Click on the "Download" link at the top of the screen
  5. Choose the appropriate link for either Windows or Mac OS X. Click here for further System Requirements
  6. When you click on the link, it will prompt you to save the installation file, make sure you save this file to your desktop for easy access
